How to Make Your Letters

Start by drawing your letter on a plate, using only a paintbrush and water. Then add a few drops of colored water to the letter made with water.

Now for the magic…

Pick up your plate and gently move it so that the colored water moves along the shape of the letter. Notice how it stays in the lines? That is because of cohesion, a property of water that causes water molecules to bind to other water molecules.

What’s next?

You can expand on this idea by drawing anything you like - letters, numbers, shapes…

You can even create a piece of original artwork. Try drawing a flower or a rainbow!

Use different colors to see what happens when they mix. Can you make a new color by mixing two other colors?
