Nixon Park: A Family Adventure Destination

Richard M. Nixon County Park

Nixon County Park is located in Springfield Township at 5922 Nixon Drive York, PA 17403. If you do not know of it, you might just miss it, as it is nestled away from the main roads. This little park has so much to offer for all ages. There are trails to hike, ponds and gardens to explore, and a nature center full of things to discover. The park offers year-round programs for families to join, many of them free of charge!

During the current situation, the Nature Center is closed to visitors. But there are still many things to see and do at the park. The nature trails range from easy to difficult and are easily marked on the map, along with the distance for each. The pathways are clearly marked and easy to traverse. There are markers along the way, with information about the area, along with plants and animals you may see on the trail. There is also a large pond, where you will see turtles sunning themselves on the logs. If you are very quiet, you will hear the frogs peeping in the grasses. On my last hike, I saw deer, chipmunks, rabbits, turtles, and this little toad.

Naturalist-led Adventures for Small Groups

During the month of June, while the Nature Center remains closed, the park is offering small group adventures, led by park naturalists. You can also choose your own adventure by hiking the trails and exploring the gardens. Whatever you choose, we hope you have an exciting time!
